Mogo Kid — Original Handmade Ceramic Studio
Share
Mogo Kid is an original handmade ceramic studio crafting everyday tableware and cozy home sundries, rooted in playful animal shapes and the tiny, lovely details of ordinary daily life.
We are the two co-founders, Xiao Y and Xiao T. We lived and worked in Japan for many years after graduation, where we specialised in cultural & creative design and independent visual creation respectively. Deeply influenced by Japanese aesthetic culture that values quiet, imperfect warmth, we both left our jobs in Tokyo, traveled to Jingdezhen to study and apprentice in traditional ceramic craft, and finally set up our independent handmade studio in Guangdong in June 2026.
There is a silly, lovely little story behind the name Mogo Kid:
One day we were visiting an art exhibition, and saw a painting of a little kid sprinting away while holding a chicken tightly in his arms. It was so funny and full of silly, unplanned joy that we immediately decided to name the studio "Chicken Thief Kid" on the spot. We later adjusted the name a little bit, and Mogo Kid was born. It is not about the literal meaning of stealing chickens or messing around with dogs at all — it is a cheeky, inside-joke nod to our original silly "Chicken Thief Kid" idea, wrapped up into a snappy, memorable brand name that feels fun, a little naughty in the cutest way, and totally true to the goofy spirit of the studio.
Every piece we hand-throw, glaze and fire in the studio carries that exact same unpretentious, playful warmth — the kind of small, happy unexpected moment that stays with you long after it happens.
